It seems to be working now aside from some display flickering which is likely related to the display cable again.
It makes me wonder if it’s actually better to have the display cable above the heatsink vs. underneath it like the instructions showed.
I solved my screen flickering issues by putting tape around the display cable. The cable is under the heatsink, between the ls1028a and the heatsink. These two threads are relevant for you, I think:
The LS1028A based Reform just came.
I booted the pre-installed SD card which has Debian GNU/Linux in console mode on it.
The screen would randomly flash/display garbage, especially in the top left part.
The screen cable connection is very awkward with the eDP adapter so it may very well be mechanical problem.
Anyone else seeing this?

because it came up recently as a support question and we’re working on getting the rest of the batch of LS1028A modules shipped, I successfully tried to reproduce reports of WiFi causing display glitches on the MNT Reform eDP display and made some videos that show what’s going on.
Also, we have a revised eDP adapter for LS1028A that flips the pinout of the FPC connector, so we can use a shorter, contacts-on-same-side flat cable that doesn’t require origami. This will be included in any LS1…
