I feel our conversation is derailing. reform-tools is essential software for a Reform laptop, and I mean not to criticize it.
Almost all software on NixOS is compiled from source and in that process that software is installed into unique directories. This would work very well for for example reform2_lpc.c.
reform-tools is not so much an actual software package, but more a configuration package. And configuration is done so fundamentally different on NixOS that most of reform-tools does not work on NixOS. This is not about not being constructive.
I do not own a Reform and likely will not for months to come. But I will own a Reform one day, and I will document and share a NixOS implementation of reform-tools, and package reform2_lpc.c if still required.
>which we all are performing regularly anyways, right? )
Funfact, at least for my data i’ve been runnig deja-dup since years on my old laptop and also set it up also for my pocket. It backups all my stuff every second day ^^
Only downside its kinda slow on the pocket, i blame the additional encryption. i maybe try to turn of the additional backup encryption, since my nas is already encrypted. Maybe i rly should try borg, cause its more modern XD
The only thing i still have to look up, is how to boot from sdcard just in case sth really breaks ^^v
