Micro HDMI to HDMI to USB-C video output

I bought a Vaio Vision Pro+—a usb-c portable monitor, has anyone tried HDMI input to USB-C output before?

I found a HDMI to USB-C adapter will this able to work on pocket reform?

the adapter notes that it’s only compatible with powered USB C displays, and doesn’t provide power itself.

i think you have two options: look into getting one of the Pocket Reform’s USB C Ports to work to supply power. you can look into this and i’m not entirely sure if either of them can, on top of the battery drain this is likely to hardly work.

alternatively: get something like this powered hdmi to usb c cable which is by ugreen which i’ve had good luck with, and then something like this hdmi to micro hdmi adapter, but that’s getting a bit into the weeds of adapters on adapters, and there may be a better solution out there that’s an all in one type solution.

that said, with the right adapters that are made properly and enough product hunting, you should find what you’re looking for if this is a bit too messy for you.

The description for that ugreen cable states

Please note that this USB cable only powers the cable itself and not the input or output display devices. Especially for AR/XR application scenarios, you need to connect power itself.

but you’ve had it power a portable monitor? If so, this is exactly what I’m looking for

Oooh, I think I’m going to try this actually! I made another post here a short while ago about a portable display that couldn’t establish HDMI connection with specifically the Reform.

But the display has a USB-C input as well, and it seems very possible that a conversion through an active adapter could make it work.

damn i didn’t read that, even i’m getting caught with the fine print! my bad. that said i feel like some sort of adapter thing might end up working

no worries! my current solution is to use a different controller board that has HDMI input on my portable monitor (I’m scrapping my framework laptop for parts to make a portable display and a HTPC now that I use my pocket everywhere haha)
