RK3588 upgrade fit problems

Ahh, ok. Thanks! That’s clearer now. I’m also sick, so I wanted to make sure I hadn’t misunderstood.

My RCore upgrade is supposed to ship from CrowdSupply around the end of January, so I’ve got time to think about a solution, but I think I have a sheet of 3mm brass out in the shop that is close to large enough to make a custom backplate. I had planned to play with that and perhaps make a wooden frame to hold it or do some metalworking and bend it slightly (it’s malleable brass). With a month to think, I ought to be able to come up with a solution.

Here are some photos. I changed the speaker holes and the notch in the lid. it has similar dimensions to the hinge openings, but is as deep as the original triangular one.

I was too lazy to open it up, but I included the QC photo of the back side of the top lid PCBWay sent me before shipping it.

This custom pocket reform looks amazing! Do you think your lid would fit on an MNT-produced case? I think my first FreeCAD project will be to produce a lid (based on yours) with a custom design that fits on my MNT case and accommodates the RK3588. Does that sound doable given the tolerances involved? I’m well-prepared to try multiple times before getting it right…

Please share your design files if possible? It seems like @wytch has a fork of the Pocket Reform CAD files on MNT’s GitLab for a custom lid with a fun design. I don’t know how to get an account there, or if the forum here allows uploads besides images.

This is sick! I congratulate you for this effort! I would also be very interested to having access to the files.

It’ll fit the regular MNT case without a problem. The only difference between mine and the “stock” case is that it’s 1mm deeper.

ETA: All of these parts were made using the files available on the repository, so if you want to mess with anything, it’s all there!
