Anyone interested in selling their old iMX8 module for the reform? I have a CM4 Banana Pi in mine, and what’s keeping me from using it daily is the lack of suspend/resume support. I’m willing to take the performance hit if it means I have a laptop I can put to sleep and put in my bag.
Hi, while the iMX8 would bring the suspend/resume, there is other option - MNT Quasar QCS6490 Processor Module - MNT Research Shop
Recently MNT announced the Quasar processor, which does have better performance and suspend/resume. Well, currently it’s for Pocket Reform only, but I’m certain it will be introduced for Classic Reform at some point. MNT latest update July (MNT July 2026 Update—MNT Research GmbH) suggest they have the first batch on order, with more units than currently purchased. If it works for you, it will be worth.
The quasar seems great! I am, however:
-
impatient
-
cheap
I was hoping to spend around USD $200 to get my classic MNT useful again.
I have the i.MX8M Plus module that came with my Pocket Reform, assuming it’s what you’re looking for I’d be happy to sell it.
That’s it! I’ll DM you
Note that there is no official/recently tested device tree for imx8mplus in classic MNT Reform. (only for imx8mq)
Thanks for the heads up.
I am OK building my own kernel and putting together a working image. What I am trying to avoid is writing a bunch of sleep/wake driver code.
AFAIK sleep/wake doesn’t work correctly on the imx8mplus, only on the imx8mq. You’re probably looking for the Nitrogen8M_SOM instead.
That’s the one: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/ezurio/NIT8MQ-SOM-4R16E/13146013 (literally “1”)
The iMX8mplus arrived today! Let it be known that shebang is a trustworthy individual. Will do some image and device tree hackery to get it working on the mnt classic. I’ll post updates when it’s working.
