- I too learned about the laptop on Fedi. Originally I just wanted a new laptop to replace my old ThinkPad, and I wanted to avoid the mistakes I had made when I selected the previous one. So I was looking for a device that was built with Linux usage in mind. For this reason I asked on Fedi, which ARM laptops would be available on the market, and was (amonst other options) pointed here. That was months before i actually ordered though, due to the steep price… However, the Reform had three very convincing arguments, that made me buy it in the end: Modular build, a very good keyboard, and a good screen. So, after trying to resist the urge, I ordered one early this year.
- I use the Reform mostly for hobby gamedev and other hobby coding projects. I have been playing around with Lean4 a lot in recent months. The A311D is a bit slow for the Lean4 language server, but it is still fast enough, as long as one invests some time to properly organize the code instead of dumping everything in one huge file. Currently I am coding a small Rust game project, for which the A311D is easily fast enough.
- I like both, dogs and cats. I don’t have any cats or dogs yet, but my wife and I are planning to adopt two cats soon, and we are currently preparing our apartment for them.
