Hey all, I was wondering if anyone was selling or considering selling an MNT Reform? Not fussed about the chip that is inside. Any leads would be great.
I assume you’re in EU. There is one unit at Mouser. If you’re in the US, check Crowd Supply. They usually have MNT Reform in stock.
Hi, I would sell mine, if you’re still looking. It works fine and it has the A311D module.
I’m selling it because, in the end, I’ve used it like a normal machine, instead of playing around with the open hardware features of it, and I also traveled a lot with it. A thinkpad would work just as fine for me and be lighter.
In May I’m located in the north of Bavaria, but I will move to Poland in June.
Hi Grandreas, Thank you for the message. That sounds ideal! I am still looking. Where in Poland would you be as I can collect or would you be willing to post? What price are you looking for?
I mainly use them as the trackball is great for pain and also I am trying to use exclusively open hardware on my research work at the moment (for a reason). I do understand why people switch back to Thinkpad’s or similar as it is lighter.
Feel free to email me at k.tallett.1@research.gla.ac.uk or kerntallett@gmail.com
If you could include a few pics of condition etc that would be great!
Thanks again for reaching out, it is much appreciated.
I’m also working in university research ![]()
Maybe half of the original price would be fair? I paid 1200 euros for the laptop and 50 euros for the wifi card (ath9k 802.11a/b/g/n).
I can write you an email regarding location, pickup and so on. Tomorrow I’ll be back home to take new pictures ![]()
I’m glad someone is willing to use it! I love the machine, it is so well built and durable. The only thing that was slightly annoying: every few months, a tiny bit of dust would get stuck between the trackball and the sensor, so it wants to be cleaned up regularly.
I have much reduced sensitivity in my fingers (and feet) due to MS and am also a biiiiig fan of the trackball. Touchpads (and touchscreens) are very bothersome for me. This is one of my main reasons to stick with the classic Reform (the other reason is, that there is more volume to tinker, compared to the Next).
I’m very happy when I see units getting sold and bought. Lets get the hardware into use! ![]()
Greetings to all you researchers – I’m no longer in research but am doing teaching only these days. Lots of opportunities to talk about open hardware and show off the classic and Pocket Reform to students. ![]()
I received your email, I shall send a message later today or tomorrow morning. Thank you!
I’m sorry to hear of your health issues but pleased to hear there is a solution. My Pocket reform has become my main device due to pain (long term illness reasoning). I am wanting to stick with open hardware where possible plus the trackball is a real positive. I do have a framework currently that i use with a ploopy trackball but it isn’t the same, hence why I am looking for a larger option as I do sometimes need that bigger screen etc.
Like you find, the pocket reform gets a lot of attention when I leave my lab and take it to the odd class I help with.
