Battery indicator after update && upgrade and shutdown

Thanks a lot, Josch,
the update seems to have worked. The OLED Menu now has an additional option: “USB Flashing Mode.” I’m curious to see if the display will update now.

I don’t feel confident updating the motherboard firmware without some help. However, I do have a second laptop (with Bunsenlabs) available.

I used the following commands:

wget https://mnt.re/update-reform-keyboard
chmod 755 update-reform-keyboard
sudo ./update-reform-keyboard laptop-us

The OLED display now shows ???% instead of the % indicator.

EDIT: After charging it a second time, the display stabilized. It’s working properly now!

I haven’t updated the motherboard firmware yet. I need help with this.

Yes, the ???% indicates that the LPC has not fully charged the batteries at least once yet. Some time with AC power connected fixes this and unless you reflash or reset the LPC firmware or disconnect the batteries, you should continue to see the correct battery percentage. After flashing or resetting or after disconnecting the batteries, that indicator will go back to ???% and then you have to charge until full again.

The official documentation for that is here: Hardware — MNT Reform Operator Handbook, 3rd Edition documentation

I don’t think there is a guide with photos for the classic Reform motherboard. A guide with photos exists for the Pocket Reform motherboard. If you are missing details in the reform handbook, lets file a merge request which explains the things that you find not to be clear or easy.

Just as you do I have a classic Reform with mainboard 3.0 (the one with usb-c charging) and rk3588. Let me know where I can assist you.
