Boot problem with stock A4000/030

  • Amiga model: 4000/030 (desktop), Buster 11 “Super Buster”
  • 680x0 CPU: 68030 (original)
  • RAM Configuration: 2MB chip + 16MB fast (onboard)
  • Kickstart, AmigaOS Versions: 47.102 (3.2.1), OS 3.2.3
  • ZZ9000 Firmware version: 1.13
  • ZZ9000 Driver version: 1.13
  • Monitor model: not the problem
  • Other Zorro cards: none

Hello,

currently I try to get my brand new ZZ9000 to work in my AMIGA 4000/030 (desktop). I’m using a fresh AMIGA OS 3.2.3 install with 3.2.1 Kickstart ROMs. The 256MB memory expansion is recognized correctly and scan doubler functionality works fine with PAL and PAL interlace modes. ZZTop shows Zorro version 3, firmware ZZ9000 1.13, Core Temp 55°C, Aux Voltage 1.80V, Core Voltage 0.99V, ZZ9000AX not present (which is correct). When I run the bus test, the output reads as follows:

zz_perform_memtest…
Done. 0 errors.
zz_perform_memtest_rand…
(some Test lines)
Done. 0 errors.
zz_perform_memtest_delaywrites…
Done. Result: 0x0 (should be: 0xffff)
zz_perform_memtest_fpgareg…
Done. Result: 0

Anything to worry about at this point?

When I install Picasso96 (latest registered version) and the ZZ9000 graphics drivers (latest driver package) the AMIGA crashes during boot with a Guru Meditation error. When I hold both mouse buttons during boot, I get to the Workbench screen, but P96Prefs shows ZZ9000 board driver not loaded.

I’d appreciate any advice what the problem could be here.

Edit:

  • I already tried different slots.
  • I already tried the Zorro-2 firmware version, but same behavior.

Best regards,
Sebastian
