Broken LPC firmware port

Hello,

I broke the LPC firmware micro-usb port on my Reform machine. Is it repairable? I could not get my other machine to see the Reform LPC firmware drive, and I attempted to wake the LPC on the other side via the keyboard, while the USB cable was still plugged at the bottom…

well the 5 pads and traces of the micro usb port itself seem fine, so it’d be just a matter of cleaning the pads and soldering in a new port. a fine soldering tip and patience will do it. the big three pads there should only be there for stability, so one missing isnt a big problem.

I agree with @svp. Here is a KiCAD screenshot of what can be seen in your photo:

As you can see, the pad that got ripped off is just GND == ground. It’s not connected to anything important and only there for stability. Should be fixable.

Awesome, thank you! I will have a go, this seems doable with these instructions https://www.instructables.com/Replace-Micro-USB-Port-With-Only-a-Soldering-Iron/
