Bypassing charge board?

While i wait for support to respond. I wanted to get confirmation on powering up since my charge board is dead. Other posts say connecting pins 2 and 3 on the J1 plug. Do i disconnect the batteries and find a way to connect those two pins together? My board is damaged so i don’t want to do anything that will cause more problems, but it would be nice to update my firmware and get it working till i can get a replacement board. Thoughts on this?
It doesn’t look like there is an easy way to jumper on J1 without using clips or soldering.

You don’t need to do anything on the charger board. Remove the cables going to the charger board on the motherboard. Then you can use a 2mm pitch shunt (jumper) directly on the pins of the connector that you just removed the charger board cables from.

Could you post a picture how you done it? I’m still confused how it’s done by word.

Do I need to use one of these on motherboard

and connect pin 2 and pin 3 together?

yeah here ya go. you want to jump pins 2&3 from the right. A few things i noticed when doing this.

  • The back cover has a heat shield connected to the CPU. So you might need to tap the side to get it to fall away after unscrewing.
  • The two connectors that go to the charge port are in there pretty good. Don’t use the cable to pull them out.
  • I didn’t have the correct sized jumper so i used a female to female cable. If i don’t have enough metal to metal contact with the pins, the laptop will power up but not boot. So i taped it to keep it secure till i get something that works better.

Many thanks, my confusion is cleared.

I tried to understand every bit of informations that could happen to pocket reform as I can since I live in Taiwan and getting a charger board or other replacement part won’t be a fast and easy task, knowing every work around is very useful.

Thank you.
