Hi, apologies if it was already answered elsewhere but, as a person living in the EU (France), will I have to pay import tax on my crowdsupply order (reform next)? I have difficulty figuring out whether the goods will make a round trip to the US before coming back in to France.
So sorry I don’t understand the full picture, any clarifications are greatly appreciated!
I cannot tell you about taxes but if you order from crowdsupply then your contract partner is not MNT but crowdsupply and what you buy from them is getting shipped from their warehouse in the US to wherever you live.
The benefit for MNT to use crowdsupply is that they manage the logistics (it is easier for MNT to ship a large batch of many units on a palette in one go to crowd supply instead of shipping individual units to customers directly) and that crowdsupply itself is buying a certain percentage of units more on top of what customers ordered from MNT to then sell.
I was wondering this too, so I asked crowdsupply. My question:
I live in the EU, and placed an order with you for a laptop manufactured in the EU. I see that VAT was collected with my order, but I’m unsure on if I can expect to pay any additional fees or taxes related to this order. More specifically, my concerns are that if the laptop is shipped to a warehouse in the US and then re-exported back to the EU, that tariffs and other customs fees could apply.
Should I be budgeting to pay anything extra once my order is fulfilled, or will there be no extra charges (perhaps because you have a way to avoid shipping a laptop across the Atlantic twice)?
Their answer:
Thanks for your note. For orders shipped outside of the US, we draw back tariffs that we paid for them on import, so there is no additional cost to you. Your order is in good standing.
