This is for all those, who are running a Linux distribution that uses Dracut to build the initramfs. I have created a Dracut module to run the reform-hw-setup script in the initramfs.

For those running Gentoo, I have also written an ebuild to install the module and added that to my overlay.
I have tested the ebuild and module on i.mx8mq and ls10s8a.
