Assuming that I come up with a solution to allow for mounting 4x4cm modules inside, like the Reform Next camera module, how realistic would it be to get the Reform Next camera working in the Pocket reform? Here’s what I’m thinking:
- Mount camera module inside backplate
- Find or make USB-C to ribbon cable adapter
- Connect USB-C/ribbon adapter to SYSUSB and camera module
- Make custom bezel or drill hole in bezel
- Mount camera behind bezel
- Connect camera to camera module
The only possible flaw I could see here is if the camera requires USB 3.0 (I think SYSUSB is 2.0?) or if SYSUSB is unusable in normal operation. I have read that SYSUSB is an OTG port, I am hoping/assuming it can be configured and used as a regular port with RK3588.
If this isn’t possible then I suppose you could use ugly hacks like a M2 to USB board (there are a few) or desoldering a USB connector, running it to an internal hub, and running that to a new USB port to get the port back (perhaps even put 2 ports on the other side of the case, why not).
Thoughts?
