i don’t see anything in the guidelines regarding necrothreading/necrobumping, but i still feel cautious doing so. i have a direct contribution to an old thread, would it be better practice to bump the old one or create a new thread?
I do not think we have any guidelines about necrobumping here (yet). Personally, when somebody is necrobumping my problem is not so much that an old thread is put to the top again (for some threads, like the MNT gaming thread this makes sense) but that the reply is actually not on-topic for the thread.
So at least for me (as a mod here) the much more important question is not the necrobumping but: is the reply directly connected to what is being talked about in the thread or is it something different and if it’s the latter, please open a new thread.
Do you have a specific example of what you considered contributing? Maybe it’s easier to talk about a concrete example.

i’ve been working on porting QMK to the Pocket Reform, so i wasn’t sure if i should update the old thread asking about it or just to make a new one once it is in a usable state. i could see either making sense.
If you are actually contributing then I think it would even be justified if you use both methods. Reply to people who have inquiries related to your work in each respective thread and feel free to start a new thread whenever you feel you want a dedicated place to communicate news on your MNT related work.
