KDE on the Pocket Reform

Hello,

Retired (after 35+ yrs) electrical engineer and computer scientist here — I really admire what the mnt company has achieved. Really amazing!

Anyway, I have mostly used UNIX as an OS during my career. My servers and desktop mostly run FreeBSD, but some servers run openSuSE Linux. My Framework Laptop runs FreeBSD. I apologize in advance, but I find the BSD’s “cleaner” and more slender than Linux.

I am currently eagerly waiting the arrival of my PocketReform. I don’t think I have the expertise (at least initially) to try FreeBSD on it, with all the associated customized packages and scripts that are already available for Debian. So, initially, I will stick with Debian. However, I would like to use the Plasma desktop. Is there any experience on running KDE on the Pocket? I remember reading a few posts on Mastodon several weeks ago, but couldn’t find anything else.

Thanks for reading!

There is no need to apologize for anything. People here not only run all kind of Linux distros but also 9front, openbsd or genode sculpt os.

As far as I know, the only issue is the cursor rendering but that is fixed with recent versions of reform-tools. Let me know if you spot any other bugs!

Thank you Josch for your kind words and your reply.

I will then be looking forward to the arrival of my PocketReform and trying KDE on it. Will keep you posted!
