If you care about wayfire, please consider contributing to it to make things like this work again. The wf-config package in Debian is orphaned and there is an ongoing wlroots transition: Transition: wlroots (auto)
You can read details about these bug by going to https://bugs.debian.org/XXXXXXX and replace the XXXXXXX with the bug number. Then you can decide whether you might be affected by the issue or not.

Hello @josch ,
No, I have not removed anything. TOR is still on the system, also.
Okay, I will move forward with update/full-upgrade.
Thank you for checking.

But you switched the tor sources from trixie to forky?
Maybe they just did a rebuild against the updated package versions.
Hello @josch ,
Actually, I have left source Suites for TOR as trixie. When I try with forky, it complains with 404 error saying no such Release file. So I have put it back to trixie.
Maybe, they did change something while we are troubleshooting. I have proceeded with full-upgrade but set #1110980 and #1111141 for dodging. Then rebooted fine.
Hmm… It seems that apt has a problem with handling /etc/apt/preferences.d/apt-listbugs? While I have /etc/apt/preferences.d/apt-listbugs with this content:
shigeru@mntpr-0:~$ cat /etc/apt/preferences.d/apt-listbugs
Explanation: Pinned by apt-listbugs at 2025-08-19 02:59:09 -0400
Explanation: Pinning requested by shigeru (1000) during command: apt full-upgrade
Explanation: #1110980: /var/lock/ is the standard interface for serial devices locks
Explanation: #1111141: systemctl ends in assertion failed on armhf
Package: systemd
Pin: version 257.7-1

So is this a bug on apt? I can reproduce this behavioral difference back and forth as I move the apt-listbugs file in-and-out of /etc/apt/preferences.d/ path.

Ooooh this explains the situation perfectly, including why I am unable to reproduce this. It is not your tor mirror. What you see happens because you told apt to do two things:
keep systemd at version 257.7-1
upgrade everything
With those constraints, the only way apt found to satisfy both was to uninstall a lot of stuff because the stuff it otherwise would upgrade was incompatible with keeping systemd at version 257.7-1.
After removing the constraint of keeping systemd at version 257.7-1 you can see that one of the things that apt wants to do is upgrade it. Without upgrading it, you cannot upgrade other packages.
So no, this is not a bug in apt but a result of what you tell apt with the contents of your /etc/apt/preferences.d/apt-listbugs.
Maybe investigate whether the bugs for which you installed the pinnings are still relevant and if not, remove the pinning and then you can upgrade while only removing reform-firedecor.

Hello @josch ,
Thank you for explaining out the situation.
Just to confirm a few things, for #1111141 armhf is for 32bit ARM cpu and not for my Pocket Reform with Debian unstable, right? For #1110980 , the word “critical” scared me, but reading into the report, it seems not relevant to my case.
Thank you.

Yes, we are using ARM64 aka aarch64.
This article is a useful explanation for people like me that are not that familiar with all the ARM stuff:

Yes. If I were the maintainer, I would lower the severity but alas it technically is maybe a policy bug…
I would go ahead and do the upgrade which removes reform-firedecor after disabling the apt-listbug pinning.

E: Consider simply deleting that offending last line of your /etc/skel/.profile.
I: the following files differ from how they are shipped by reform-tools (ignore /var/lib/alsa/asound.state):
??5?????? /var/lib/alsa/asound.state
shigeru@mntpr-0:~$ sudo apt full-upgrade
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
argyll argyll-ref libmongoc-1.0-0t64 libvpx9
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them.
Not upgrading:
libpskc0t64
Summary:
Upgrading: 0, Installing: 0, Removing: 0, Not Upgrading: 1
Thank you.
By the way, I am wondering why those four packages are not removed with full-upgrade. Should I go ahead and do autoremove? I assume that there is some reasons why upgrading of libpskc0t64 is postponed.

Because full-upgrade does not autoremove those packages which only were implicitly installed before as you might want to keep them.
If you need none of them you can go ahead and autoremove them. If you need some of them, explicitly apt install it to exclude it from auto removal.
There were some recent uploads of the package, so maybe something is borked?
Sorry for my terse replies, i’m currently in a night train from paris to spain.

I’m actually not that thrilled with it, I thought it was the recommended for the pocket. Have others moved to sway and/or gnome?

Yes. Minute worked on making wayfire fit for the Pocket (and we have reform-firedecor as a result of that work) because back in the day, Gnome was not working well on the Pocket. Today it does and thus the reform-setup-wizard and the reform system images no longer offer sway and wayfire but switched to suggesting sway and gnome. I’m still on sway. I’d give gnome to people unfamiliar with tiling WMs.
