I am having issues of a lack of permissions during login. Any suggestions on how best to resolve this?
The error message in the first line suggests that /dev/null does not exist. This should never happen and suggests that your problem is not actually that you cannot login but that something much more fundamental than that is broken.
If you have boot logs (you can gather those via serial with a usb uart adapter) then that might help.
