Pocket Reform, RK3588 and modems

Hello wonderful community,

I’m considering ordering Pocket Reform, but it’s going to replace an old ThinkPad with a wireless modem in it, and I’m looking for this extension for Pocket as well. I’ve seen messages that some modems work fine with A311D, but for RK3588 I know that the second M.2 will be occupied by Wi-Fi adapter (which I also very much need).
Is there any way to connect a modem internally to that RK3588 board, together with Wi-Fi card? I understand that it’s very early, maybe something is in development. Or should I stop worrying, order A311D and wait for the next iteration (BPI-CM5 Pro maybe?) to improve performance?

There is talk of a special board for this, but it sounds like it will be a while in the making. I’m certainly keen to order one when/if it comes to fruition.

Thank you @glob, I didn’t see that message. I went ahead and ordered RK3588, I’ll try to survive with wired eth at home and cellular card in the laptop and see if that option materializes. Couldn’t resists all that Rockchip performance

Don’t forget you can always use a USB WiFi dongle! If I need a bit more range on WiFi I use my Alfa.
