Powered-Off Battery Drain

I’ve noticed a surprising amount of battery drain (about 10-20% a day at a rough guess) when my pocket is powered off.

I know that the system controller is still powered on unless I use the standby switch, is the general expectation is that I use that switch regularly to preserve my battery? Given the recessed access I had assumed it was not intended to be used on a regular basis.

I’ve got an imx8mp-powered pocket (though I would imagine the processor module doesn’t really affect this) running system firmware version 20251030

That roughly matches my experience with the imx8mp pocket. I had taken to leaving it on charge every other day or so which I’m sure is not good long-term for the batteries. Otherwise I’m pretty forgetful and the batteries were getting flatlined often (which I’m sure is also terrible for them).

Unfortunately I dropped it recently which dislodged all 3 charger board thermistors. I gave resoldering them a try but ended up ordering a charger board v2 (which just shipped this morning I think  ).

I have a mobile sim/sdcard clip attached to the own magnets of the Pocket, on the upper left side near the display. I close the power if I’m not using it anymore.

The reason for that, as far as I know, are the system controller (an RP2040) and the keyboard controller. Lucie is working on improving that at the moment:

When I know I won‘t use my Pocket for more than a day, I flip the switch. For that, I have a SIM card eject pin always near my Pocket
