Question about performance regarding music production and game development

Heya!
I’ve been looking to replace a 2017 T470s, and lately I’ve been leaning towards going the route of ARM and MNT.

I primarily use the laptop for content creation, Music Production (Renoise), Graphic Design (Blender, GIMP, KRITA), and Game Development (Godot).

So I’m quite curious about performance of the MNT Reform (as I’m looking for either an original Reform or the Next when those are available).

My only personal experience with ARM devices outside of phones are a Raspberry Pi 4, Pi 0, and an old PocketCHIP, so it’ll definitely be quite a big jump for me in terms of performance.

Thanks for any info you can provide!!

Hello luce and welcome to the forum!

If you require 3D performance and recent opengl/vulkan features the currently fastest platform (rk3588) might not be sufficient for your needs. Even today, blender will not work out of the box (yet) on rk3588:

Luckily there is support for qualcom qcs6490 and qcs8550 in the works. Both these chips has far better graphics performance compared to rk3588:

I appreciate the response!!
Admittedly I don’t use the vulkan renderer in either blender or godot so I suppose I’m probably in the clear?
In blender I primarily use it to make renders like this, and I’ve been able to do that on a Pi4 without Vulkan so I imagine I’m probably fine with whatever chipset?

At least if I wait long enough it’ll be supported it seems, my goal was the Reform Next so who knows maybe the support will be solid once that releases.

Thank you again for the response!
