Can the RCM4 (stand-alone) to be used with a now again readily available Raspberry Pi CM4 still be purchased and will this work in the Pocket Reform?
What should one watch out for? Is it mandatory to chose a version with eMMC or can this boot directly from NVMe? Can NVMe even be used in this combination? Are the other devices on the Pocket usable or are there limitations?
There’s a compatibility chart/matrix available here : Modularity—MNT Research GmbH
Maybe it’ll bring you some answers to your questions.
I already viewed that, but my questions were not answered there.
I have not any knowledge about RCM4 on Pocket, said this, what do you mean with “can be used again”? Was it working but some bugs arised?
Just being curious.
I am confused, who wrote “can be used again” previously?
I did not.
I would like to use the RPi CM4 in the Pocket Reform and am therefore interested, if this is working. If not what exactly is not working and so on.
In the Pocket Reform row it is stated that support for the CM4 is in development so you have an answer there.
That does not really answers any of my questions.
E.g. what happens, if I would buy a RCM4 adapter, stick a RPi CM4 on it, and put it into my Pocket Reform. What would work and what not? Would it be able to boot off of the NVMe or the eMMC like in any other devboard? Would the Pocket Reform peripherals work?
That would interest me, the broad statement, that it is in development does not answer any of that.
Edit: It would even be of interest, if the Ubuntu Image for the RPi4 CM would work in this combination.
The RCM4 with Raspberry Pi CM4 does not work satisfyingly out of the box with the Pocket Reform yet because the display has not yet been brought up. This would require writing or adapting a device tree overlay for the JDI LT070ME05000, which was used in RPi projects before, so theoretically it can be done. But I didn’t have time to work on this in the lab yet.
Instead, I so far focused on the Banana Pi CM4 which is now fully compatible with the Pocket Reform.
Addendum: we are in the process of sending 50x RCM4 adapters for RPi CM4 to Crowd Supply for stocking, they will be stocked there in 1-2 weeks.
Oh true, I did not read you correctly moep.
I just ordered a RCM4 with BPi4, to get a supported and working system together.
Should I make a new topic on how to migrate from iMX8MPlus to the A311?
My current setup consists of an encrypted NVMe and boot on eMMC of the CPU-Module. I would assume, that I have to make a new boot volume on the A311 eMMC, which, I also assume, cannot be copied from the previous installation completely, as the device-tree files are different and have to be taken from the corresponding image/repo, is this correct? Is there any other pitfall or even guide, how to accomplish this, if any other person has already done it.
My goal is not to lose my data on NVMe and make a quick change of the CPU module while retaining all functionality. Network interface config, may be reviewed, as the interface name might have changed for Wi-Fi, but that is expected.
