RCORE at CrowdSupply

I got an email about this from CrowdSupply but hadn’t seen an announcement here, so… Looks like the RCORE upgrades are now available over there!

Thank you for the heads up! I would’ve missed it

So is this just another source for the RK module and not an actual new version of?

It’s mainly a new source and being able to have stock in the US, which can be attractive for customers outside the EU. Once Crowd Supply/Mouser have our products stocked, because of their huge logistics they’re also usually faster than us to ship them out. Technically it’s identical to the one we offer since around mid-june 2025 in our shop.

Just want to say thank you a ton for sending me over the new version. I had been waiting for months, and it was a nice touch you guys sent the updated one. Makes me wonder if you delayed it with that in mind, if so, you should have said (or maybe I missed it). Its one of those things were a less caring company would have sent the old model a month before publishing the new one to potentially convert some of the previous sales in new ones. Its an assumption, but if that is the case, you guys are amazing. (not like you weren’t before )

Is there a plan to add a SKU in CrowdSupply (or directly in Mouser) for a Pocket Reform with the RK3588 module directly, like how the MNT Shop offers with a backorder? On the CrowdSupply page, it looks like you can order a Pocket Reform with the original SOM, and you can preorder the upgrade kit, but then you’ll be left with a spare module later.

This is not yet planned as due to the way that Crowd Supply campaigns + post campaign stocking works, Crowd Supply (and as another frontend, Mouser) are still receiving significant 8GB i.MX8MPlus Pocket Reform stock from us, I think around 200 units. I think from a sustainability perspective it makes more sense to sell off those + let people upgrade them to the newest processor themselves than to obsolete them or ship them back and forth to us for upgrades.

I’m in the U.S. I’ve been eyeing the upgrade for the 8GB i.MX8MQ Pocket Reform I have and recently agitated about the Framework situation. I’ve also read articles about UPS holding back packages due to confusion with tariffs. It seems the Crowdsupply stock circumvents the situation but I wanted to ask to be sure: do I have to worry about any delivery issues within the US if I order?

You don’t have to worry about any deliveries in the US because we are bulk shipping everything to Mouser’s warehouse. They are importing and clearing everything, and will domestically ship to you.

I just noticed (because the RK3588 upgrades were supposed to ship from CrowdSupply this week) that the ship estimate has been pushed back to March 4.

I really hope this doesn’t slip any more. I’ve started looking at the FydeTab Duo, which also has the RK3588, though only 12GB of RAM instead of the 32 I paid for, but for ¼ the price of my Pocket Reform plus the upgrade board.

Sigh.

Not quite. According to https://fydetabduo.com/specs the FydeTab comes with the RK3588S which is why it can be so much cheaper.

I mean it’s a totally different type of device. The fydetab is nowhere near the same level of repairability and openness. I had considered getting one but I think they are poor with customer support too which if you won’t build an open device is not really great.

The next batch of RCORE PCBAs is currently in production at JLC and includes the reserved quantities for Crowd Supply, so I’m confident that we can hit the March deadline. Thank you for your patience!

Thanks for the update, Lucie! I’m pretty cheesed off at CrowdSupply since they never sent me any update, and the only way I found out the new date was checking the project page and seeing that the date had moved.
