Is it possible to set up a Pocket Reform with the RK3588 module as a fresh install (afaik the module comes with an image pre-installed on eMMC, right?) and then switching over to an already installed system on the encrypted NVMe storage?
Would that avoid the need to boot from an SD card?
If yes, how would this be done? Is it supported by the reform tooling scripts?
I’d really like to keep the SD slot available for regular use.

Hey, yeah I’ve done this! Essentially follow the original instructions (Howto: Upgrade an existing MNT Reform system on encrypted NVMe for RK3588 for anyone following along at home who’s not already seen them!) the but when you modify /boot
in /etc/fstab
in the chroot you add the partition of your emmc’s boot partition instead of the SD card one.
To make this simpler I’m pretty sure that you could just boot from emmc instead of SD card so you can’t confuse the SD and emmc boot partitions and then I think you should be able to follow the instructions verbatim (although make sure you read all of the comments as there are some important errata!)
Be aware though, if you make the emmc’s boot partition unbootable in the process you’re going to need a rescue SD to fix it anyway. That was what convinced me to do mine whilst booted from a fresh SD card, literally just saved me a reboot after checking it was working.
Let me know if any of that needs any clarification!
