Setting up boot from m.2

Hello!
I have been trying to migrate my system over to my m.2 for a while now and I’ve been stuck on rescue mode. I may need a little hand holding as my model might be a bit behind now. Its been a while since I’ve been able to work on this machine.
I removed the heat sink and switched the dip to allow for the m.2 to boot. But I’m a little afraid that I’ll have to do that again to get this to work. To the best of my knowledge it seems like I am booting from it but I somehow copied the rescue system onto it. Not sure if thats actually whats going on or if I’m still only getting my actual rescue system.
Any help would be lovely, thank you.

What rescue mode? Do you have some output?

Do you want to set up a new system or repair your existing one?

The DIP switch on the imx8mq only controls where u-boot is loaded from. It does not influence the device that is then used by u-boot and later the initramfs. Here is a write-up that may help:

I cant really get my MNT to download and install firefox or chrome atm. So my ability to get output is limited until I can either get it out of rescue mode or find an browser that installs.
I would like to set up a new system on my m.2 if I can. I dont have any data I need to save.
Should I go back in and flip that dip switch back? I’m running one of the earlier reforms, not sure if thats relevant here or not. I just know my space bars and paper manual are different. Idk if anything else has changed with how these machines function.
I’ll check out that link and get back to you. Sorry it took so long for me to respond. Life gets in the way sometimes. Thank you for the reply!
