Using a fresh image Trackball attempts to start several times while the kernel boots (lights on trackball light up and then turn off again), it does not show up in lsusb after boot.
“usb 1-2.1.4: device descriptor read/64, error -32” plus repeats
“usb 1-2.1.4: new full-speed USB device number 6 using xhci-hcd”
dev desc msg again, plus repeats
“usb 1-2.1-port4: attempt power cycle”
Tries ID 12, then 13, then 14, failures on:
“usb 1-2.1.4: Device not responding to setup address.”
“usb 1-2.1.4: device not accepting address 14, error -71”
“usb 1-2.1-port4: unable to enumerate USB device”

Hi, which trackball version is this? My guess is that it is the original version with Atmega32u2 (not RP2040) and an old firmware? In the beginning the FW had a delay on startup that would cause it to not be enumerated by some computers. Can you switch the trackball to programming mode and update the firmware?

Sounds like a good candidate. I’ll attempt the flash this evening or tomorrow. Thanks!

I’ve had exactly the same issue after upgrading to CM4 and reflashing the trackball with the (v1) firmware fixed it, thanks @mntmn !

Yep, flashing the new trackball firmware fixed the problem instantly. Thanks! BTW, with the new BPi card, my Reform is fast enough to run Furnace on. Looking forward to more use of it.
