BAT0: driver failed to report "status" property

My Pocket Reform doesn’t boot up right now. After I enter my disk encryption password, it reports this a few times:

power_supply BAT0: driver failed to report "status" property: -16
mnt_sc spil.0: cmd failed after 10 retries

After that it reports in a loop:

Job systemd-journald.service/start running
mnt_sc spil.0: cmd failed after 10 retries

I first thought this means the battery is somehow not working. But:

  1. The System Controller reports the battery status just fine
  2. The device “works” (as in shows the same behavior) when not connected to power

Any suggestions what I could try to resolve this? Thanks

Maybe it is the same as CMD failed after 10 retires

That is, you upgraded your kernel but missed (not your fault) this announcement: Important note about the new MNT Pocket Reform kernel and firmware updates 20260819 (updated)

Oh no :see_no_evil_monkey: Thanks, that helps a lot :+1:

@josch Thanks, everything is working again <3 I remember reading the post, and thinking “Cool, I do that sometime later”, then I forgot about it and updated everything much later. I’m an idiot sometimes :joy: But now everything is working again, and I can keep computering.
