This is quite a nice approach, thanks for the tip. It saves the issue of applying it on the top of the case, where it would be pulled whenever that panel is removed. Good thinking.
Thanks. It remains to be seen whether itâll be a good long-term solution, because the gap clearance is tight and the coax wire does rub against it when the lid is closed. Itâs possible that over time that could damage the insulation of the wire, but I figured these antennas are cheap enough to where if that happens I can just try something else.
What size is the connector for the EM060K? I ordered an IPEX antenna but it is too large, it fits on the wifi antenna ports though. I looked at the data sheet but no mention of the connector size.
I was checking in the spec sheet; it doesnât call out a standard for these connectors but it says theyâre 2mm x 2mm and shows these details:
Ahh thanks! Thats the EM06 data sheet. The EM060K datasheet I got on Mouser doesnât even have that diagram. Based on that it looks like its an MHF4/IPEX4 connector. I verified by measuring connector with calipers and it has a 1.5mm diameter.
RF connector names are a nightmare.
They sure are. Thanks for that info, it will come in handy if/when I decide to try a different antenna. I am also kinda interested in using two antennas for âdiversityâ reception to see how much of a difference it makes.
